Revamping Artisan Camper: A Flavourful Makeover by PHd Design

Our Work 16th November 2023

Revamping an Artisan Camper

Our team is thrilled to share another delicious journey of transformation, but this time we’re hitting the road with out friends at Artisian Camper!

Unlocking Artisan Camper’s Branding Potential

Artisan Camper, a local artisan food producer renowned for crafting unique pork crackling from the back of a vintage VW camper van, approached us with an exciting challenge. They needed a branding and packaging solution that would capture the hearts of their customers while keeping costs low.

The Unique Journey of Artisan Camper

Artisan Camper’s story is not just about their delectable pork crackling but also about their humble beginnings. Huddled in the cozy confines of a VW camper, they embarked on a mission to create flavours that stood out. These delicious, small batch-snacks were a hit at popular events and markets, but their branding and packaging required an upgrade to match their growing reputation.

Our Creative Approach

Our aim was to provide Artisan Camper with a solution that would keep costs low while allowing for future expansion of flavours. To achieve this, we designed a single packaging tube that could be customised with stickers to indicate the flavour within. This ingenious design not only streamlined production costs but also granted Artisan Camper the flexibility to introduce new flavours without diluting their brand recognition.

The Visual Transformation

We kicked off this exciting transformation with a brand new logo. This logo, with it’s professional and appealing look, was the first step in elevating Artisan Camper’s brand identity. We then extended this fresh new appearance to their packaging and point-of-sale banners, ensuring a cohesive, eye catching brand image.

The Result

The result was a brand that not only caught the eye but also resonated with Artisan Camper’s loyal customers and newcomers alike. Their packaging now tells a story that complements their journey from the VW camper van to culinary excellence. This transformation has helped Artisan Camper stand out in the artisan food industry, enabling them to make their mark and grow.

At PHd Design, we’re passionate about creating effective design solutions that drive business growth. Our work with Artisan Camper is a testament to our commitment to innovation and creativity. Demystifying Typefaces and Fonts: A Comprehensive Guide to Visual Identity

Industry News 8th November 2023

Demystifying Typefaces and Fonts

When it comes to business, making informed choices about your brand’s visual identity is critical. Whether you’re a start up, an established business or a one man band – if you’re looking to establish a unique and memorable image, understanding the nuances of design elements can make all the difference.

And a key aspect of design that is often misunderstood is the difference between fonts and typefaces. So we’re here to help make sense of this often misunderstood topic.

Defining the Basics: Font vs Typeface

Starting from the beginning, let’s learn about the basics of fonts and typefaces. These terms are often used interchangeably, but they serve very different roles in the world of design.

What is a Typeface?

A typeface is the term for a family of fonts that share a consistent design theme. Think of it as a collection of characters, numbers and symbols that have a unified style. Typefaces can be various weights (bold, regular, light, etc) and styles (italic, condensed, etc) within the same design theme. For instance, if you’re using a classic typeface like Helvetica, you could use different fonts within this family for various applications within your business, and still maintain a coherent visual identity.

What is a Font?

In contrast, a font is a specific, individual style within a typeface family. But a font can still include variations such as font size, weigh and style. Fonts are essentially the practical, tangible representation of typefaces that you use in your designs. So let’s use Helvetica as an example again, if you were to create a logo you might choose the ‘Helvetica Neue 45 Light’ as your font.

Why the Distinction Matters

Now that you understand the difference between fonts and typefaces, you might wonder why the difference matters for your branding and design decisions?

Consistency

When you’re crafting your brand’s visual identity it’s crucial to maintain consistency. By choosing a typeface family, you ensure that all of the fonts you use in your branding align harmoniously.

Versatility

Typefaces provide versatility. They allow you to adapt your designs to better suit various media and platforms, whilst still maintaining a consistent look. Different fonts within the same typeface can be used for headings, body text and other design elements.

Impact

The fonts you choose can convey your brand’s personality and message. Typefaces have their own unique character, and selecting the right one can make a significant impact on how your target audience perceives your brand.

Making the Most of Fonts and Typefaces

When it comes to font vs typeface, the distinction might seem subtle, but it can make the world of difference to your branding efforts. By understanding the role of typefaces and fonts in design, you can make informed choices that will set your brand apart from the competition.

Remember, your visual identity is the first impression that your audience will have of your brand, so be sure to make it count with the right design choices and cohesive branding.

Looking to Stand Out From the Competition?

Our team of experts specialises in helping businesses like yours create a visual identity that stands out from the crowd. We don’t just create stunning visuals; we help you make informed design decisions that align with your business goals.
